An exciting opportunity to join the Special Buys team has become available within the National Buying department of ALDI Stores, based in Minchinbury. This is a permanent full time role.


As a Design Office Assistant (Special Buys), you will be responsible for monitoring and researching market trends in order to support the ideation of themes. This role will allow you to utilise your creative flair through presentations and development of mood boards while having a direct impact on the future of the Special Buys program.


What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will possess strong communication and presentation skills in order to tell a story around future trend ideas. With exposure to the Adobe suite you will conduct research and extract insights to support in the initial stages of theme and style design, setting the tone for product ranges across the Special Buys program.


Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a professional business environment
  • Tertiary qualification in design
  • Advanced competency in PowerPoint with Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative suite
  • Previous experience with mood boards
  • High level written and verbal communication
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated flexibility to work across ad hoc tasks
  • Ability to take on responsibility, work autonomously and be a team player

Role Responsibilities:

  • Research and monitor the market to assess upcoming trends
  • Identify new opportunities to improve Special Buys range
  • Design mood boards and develop colour palettes
  • Enhance existing and curate new Special Buy themes, through innovative design
  • Prepare and deliver theme recommendations to the wider team
  • Support consistent execution of design initiatives by reviewing colours and checking samples
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist the team with ad hoc project coordination



This role reports to the Director - Buying.
